The short version. Your photo is sent to our server only to build a puzzle from it. The original is never written to disk and is discarded the moment the puzzle is generated. The finished puzzle lives on your device.
There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. Nothing is sold or shared.
What happens to a photo
When you create a puzzle, the app uploads the photo you chose to our server. The server analyses it, produces the puzzle files — the outline, the region map, and the artwork — and sends them back to your device.
The uploaded photo is held in memory for the length of that process, typically under a minute. It is never saved to a disk, never logged, and is released as soon as the puzzle exists.
The generated puzzle files are stored on the server just long enough for your device to download them. The app then asks the server to delete them, and anything not claimed is removed automatically within 24 hours.
Once a puzzle is on your device, it stays there. Your colouring progress never leaves your phone.
What we don't collect
- No account, email address, name, or password — there is nothing to sign up for.
- No analytics, usage tracking, session recording, or advertising identifiers.
- No location data, contacts, or access to your photo library beyond the single photo you pick.
- No third-party advertising or marketing SDKs.
The app uses Apple's system photo picker, so it never has access to your library — only to the one image you hand it.
Who else is involved
Puzzle generation runs on Microsoft Azure, which hosts the server that processes your photo. Azure acts purely as infrastructure and does not use your content for any purpose of its own.
The app is distributed through Apple's App Store. Any download or crash statistics you see attributed to the app come from Apple and are aggregated — we never receive information that identifies you.
Deleting your data
Deleting a puzzle in the app removes it and its progress from your device immediately. Settings includes a Delete All Puzzles option that clears everything at once. Deleting the app removes all of it.
There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing is kept.
Children
Color My Memory is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. As there are no accounts and no personal data collection at all, there is nothing for a child user to disclose.
Changes to this policy
If this ever changes — for example if the app gains accounts or online sharing — this page will be updated before the change ships, and the date below will change with it.
